Genesis 1:1-5 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day. (ESV)

The unpredictable things that often happen in life have a tendency to cause chaos. I’m sure you’ve experienced that. But then there are those things that are predictable which, if we allow them to continue, will also descend into chaos.

I’m not sure if you’ve ever thought about it quite this way, but the whole act of creation reflects the deep-rooted tendency of God to create order out of chaos.

(ESV)

There it is – it’s in the very nature of God to take something that was without form, shed light on it, and create order. It’s who He is.

I wonder … as you look around your life, what can you see that’s in chaos, in need of some attention – some repair perhaps, or some organising? From a messy sock drawer to a relationship in tatters, some attention in the right place can bring much-needed order to a chaotic life.

Because chaos gets you down … and whilst we can’t eliminate all the chaos in our lives, some of it is under our control. As people made in the very image of God, being proactive, paying some attention to the bits of chaos in your life that you can change, is a good thing.

Create order out of chaos, just as God separated the light from the darkness.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
