2 Corinthians 9:7,8 Each one of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give. You should not give if it makes you unhappy or if you feel forced to give. God loves those who are happy to give. And God can give you more blessings than you need, and you will always have plenty of everything. You will have enough to give to every good work.

Have you ever felt pressured to give? You know, when people knock on your door and ask for money for this cause or that, or send you an email soliciting your support? It’s not a nice feeling, is it?

It seems everybody has their hand out these days asking you to contribute to this, that or the other thing. And that uncomfortable feeling we get sometimes, it seems to me, happens for one of two reasons. First, it can be because we don’t have a heart for the particular cause and second, because we’re afraid that if we do give, we ourselves won’t have enough … and that makes us feel guilty.

It’s uncomfortable, isn’t it? So what’s the answer?

2 Corinthians 9:7,8 Each one of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give. You should not give if it makes you unhappy or if you feel forced to give. God loves those who are happy to give. And God can give you more blessings than you need, and you will always have plenty of everything. You will have enough to give to every good work.

In other words, firstly, we should give where the Holy Spirit leads us to give, because in that place, we’ll feel a great sense of joy in our giving. Never be pressured, never allow yourself to be manipulated into giving toward something you’re not comfortable with.

And when you do give, give generously. Don’t be afraid of not having enough for yourself, because you can’t outgive God. You just can’t, because He loves those who are happy to give. He can give you more blessings than you’ll ever need so that you’ll always have plenty of everything. Make no mistake, you will have enough to give to every good work.

Give as the Spirit leads.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
