How much, I wonder, do you think about heaven; about the eternity that you will spend in the presence of God, because of what Jesus did for you? How much?

The most natural thing in the world for us to do is, quite frankly, to focus on the things of this world, on the here and now, on all the stuff that competes for our attention – the good, the bad and the ugly.

And don’t get me wrong, focus is a good thing when you’re focussing on the right things. But the narrower your perspective becomes, the more you end up missing out on the glorious reality of who you are, where you live and where you’re going.

Ephesians 2:6 Yes, it is because we are a part of Christ Jesus that God raised us from death and seated us together with him in the heavenly places.

Something happens when we put our trust in Jesus, when we place our life in His hands. And that’s literally what we’re doing here, He raised us from death … the death we were going to die in our sin. The death we were already dying in, through the miserable consequences of our sin.

But did you notice the second bit? He has seated us together with Him, with Jesus, in the heavenly places. In other words, our eternity in Christ, has already begun.

That’s the reality that you’re living out here on this earth as you deal with all the things you deal with, day to day. Jesus has already prepared a place for you in heaven with Him.

By all means, be focussed, but don’t lose focus on the most important reality of all; that you are saved by grace and already seated with Jesus in heavenly places.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
