Yep, it’s Christmas Eve … time to get serious about wrapping our hearts and our minds around the vast, incomprehensible yet intensely personal truth of God’s grace toward us, through Jesus Christ His Son.

One of the important elements in keeping your life on track is continually remembering the things that matter most. Constantly remembering, constantly being reminded of, constantly revisiting those life markers of faith and family is like looking at the signposts that’ll keep your life heading in the right direction.

Marriages fall apart because husband and wife forget how important they are to one another. They lose sight of that marriage signpost, and in their day-to-day lives they drift apart.

In the same way, if you profess a faith in Jesus Christ as the cornerstone of your being, your very existence, you can still drift away from Him in how you live your life if you don’t continually revisit His incomprehensible grace to you.

And it’s for that reason that Christmas is such an important time. It’s a time for us to stop, to rest, to revisit, to give thanks for God’s grace. Just as the shepherds did after they’d visited Jesus in that manger:

Luke 2:20 The shepherds went back to their sheep, praising God and thanking him for everything they had seen and heard. It was just as the angel had told them.

Imagine walking with them on their way from downtown Bethlehem, back to their sheep in the open fields. The excitement. The awe, the wonder, the joy. The spring in their step at what they had just witnessed. Never forget to praise God, to give thanks to Him for all that He’s done for you in Jesus Christ, His Son.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
