It’s easy to get the impression that the Bible – the thing that we Christians call God’s Word – is all about spiritual stuff. Nothing could be further from the truth, because God wants His love to impact every part of our lives.

And one part of our life that’s so incredibly important is our work-life. Sure, not everyone has a paid job but most do, at least for some part of their lives.

Work consumes a good part of our time. And yes, one of its main purposes is to bring in the money that we need to put food on the table and a roof over our heads. But another is to allow us to exercise our gifts and abilities from which we hopefully gain a sense of satisfaction.

I know, I know … that’s not always the case because some people are in the wrong job – square peg, round hole. But another reason is that you can end up with a difficult boss. I’ve been there and it’s not a lot of fun. Not at all! So instinctively, after the angry boss has been grinding away at our self-esteem for a while, we simply want to give up, throw in the towel, and go look for another job. But there is an alternative – a godly alternative.

Ecclesiastes 10:4 Don’t quit your job simply because the boss is angry with you. If you remain calm and helpful, you can correct even great mistakes.

The reason people upset us is that we allow them to. We can either be the victim or the victor in this situation. The victim slinks away with their tail between their legs. The victor lives out God’s wisdom by choice.

So don’t quit your job simply because the boss is angry with you
. If you remain calm and helpful, you can correct even great mistakes.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
