Colossians 3:12,13 God has chosen you and made you his holy people. He loves you. So your new life should be like this: Show mercy to others. Be kind, humble, gentle, and patient. Don’t be angry with each other, but forgive each other. If you feel someone has wronged you, forgive them. Forgive others because the Lord forgave you.

So many things in life can rob you of your peace. But right up there at the top of the list are our relationships. Those difficult people. The conflict. A sharp word, or even a sideward glance, can shatter your peace in an instant.

You know how it goes. You roll out of bed with all the best intentions of having a good day, of living in the peace and the joy of the Lord. But the first email you read, the first person you talk to … boom! All that goes straight out the window.

How dare they? I deserve respect. I’ll show them!

So how do you work your way through that to live in the peace that God planned for your day? Because, let me tell you, He wants you to live in, and experience His peace. It’s one of His great benefits.

Inevitably, it’s our response to those difficult people that robs us of our peace. I’m entitled to better! But what if we adopted a different attitude to those peace-robbers?

Show mercy to others. Be kind, humble, gentle, and patient.

After all, how much mercy has God shown you? And how many times has He forgiven you?

If you feel someone has wronged you, forgive them. Forgive others because the Lord forgave you.

Mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, forgiveness … peace.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
