It’s easy to say you should trust God through the difficult times. Doing it though, is much more difficult – because trusting Someone you can’t see in the face of something you can, goes against the grain.

The ministry I’m involved in, which produces these daily devotions, is called Christianityworks. Why? Because with every fibre of my being, I know that Christianity actually does work. Following Jesus works. Trusting Jesus works. That’s what the marketeers would call the ministry’s “brand promise.”

Well, if that’s the case, then it has to “work” during the good times and the bad. So let’s talk about those bad times, the tough times, for a moment. How easy (or not) do you find it to trust in Jesus when you’re faced with an impossible situation, hmm?

We know that we should trust Him – the question is … how? How do you actually do that? How do you trust Jesus in the tough times?

Proverbs 3:6 With every step you take, think about what he wants, and he will help you go the right way.

That, right there, is the “how”. That verse comes smack bang in the middle of a passage that talks about trusting Him in the difficult times. How? As you step carefully – sometimes painfully, sometimes with disillusionment in your heart, sometimes tempted to do the wrong thing – with every step you take, think about what God wants. What would Jesus want me to do in this spot, as I take this step?

And pretty soon, you’ll have the luxury of looking back to see how He helped you head in the right direction.

With every step you take, think about what he wants. That’s how.

And that’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

The ‘how’ is usually really really tricky. This makes it feel achievable!
Thank you for being practical!
I’m very discouraged at the moment & thoughts of suicide are coming into my head.
I feel so let down by God.

This will help.
