Have you ever stepped out to do something for God in faith, all brave and enthusiastic, and fallen flat on your face? Me too. Then we wonder why God didn’t show up. Lord, what are you doing? I trusted you, but you failed me!

That’s a pretty common sentiment amongst those who’ve ever tried to do something for God and failed. And yet Jesus never failed at anything. Even when He looked like the world’s biggest loser hanging there on that Cross, that turned out to be the greatest victory in all of human history.

And sure, sometimes God’s plans involve things that from a human standpoint look like failure, but from the vantage point of heaven’s balcony all form part of His plan. Other times, it’s because we’ve stepped out in faith, perhaps in great faith, without checking in with Him to see if our grand venture was part of His plan.

Which brings us to the secret of Jesus’ 100% track record of success:

John 5:19 But Jesus answered, “I assure you that the Son can do nothing alone. He does only what he sees his Father doing. The Son does the same things that the Father does.

Jesus never failed to heal someone He’d set out to heal. He didn’t sink when he walked on water. When He boldly declared that water be turned into wine, that’s exactly what happened. Why?

Because He only did what He saw His Father doing. He remained in His Father’s will. So if you’re going to step out in faith, check in with God first; pray, seek His will, so that you’ll end up doing what Dad’s already doing!

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
