John 10:29 My Father is the one who gave them to me, and he is greater than all. No one can steal my sheep out of his hand.

One of the worst things that can ever happen to small children is to be separated from their parents – to be lost and for that bond of security to be severed, even for a short time.

I remember as a young child losing my mother in a large department store. The clothes racks were so high that they obscured my view. I couldn’t see her. I couldn’t find her. And six decades on I still remember the sheer terror at being lost; I was screaming out Mama, Mama.

For many a Christian, the fear of being lost indeed raises its ugly head from time to time. What if I just wander off? What if I act up so badly that God’s done with me? What if the devil lures me away to my own destruction? What if?

Listen to me. If you, at some point in your life, have put your trust in Jesus, then you can be absolutely rock-solid certain of these two things: firstly, that it wasn’t your own doing, but God’s. And secondly, that no power in the universe can ever undo His will.

But don’t just take my word for it. Here it is, straight from Jesus’ own mouth:

John 10:29 My Father is the one who gave them to me, and he is greater than all. No one can steal my sheep out of his hand.

Sure, like any sheep you might wander off. But the Good Shepherd will leave the other ninety-nine to come and find you. He will seek you out. He will bring you home.

No one, no force in all the universe, can steal you from His hand.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
