Download audio fileVictory is an interesting concept. Victory, at least the sort that Jesus has ready and waiting for you, is completely different to just winning.
When your favourite team wins the grand final, they get out there and celebrate long and hard. After all, they beat all the other teams in the competition and in every sense, they’re victors; they’re conquerors.
But there’s this idea that the Apostle Paul came up with, that in the midst of our trials and battles, we can actually have complete victory, we can be more than conquerors.
Hang on, what can be better than victory? Complete victory! What can be better than being a conqueror? Being more than a conqueror.

A conqueror is someone who surveys their territory, revelling in the glory of winning, and that’s it.
But someone who is more than a conqueror, has more than enough victory in their heart to share round. They can’t help it. It overflows out of them. They infect other people with victory too. Being a conqueror is great! But, in Christ, you and I have more – we are more than conquerors, so that we can share His victory around.
