Mazmur 136:1 Bersyukurlah kepada TUHAN, sebab Ia baik! Bahwasanya untuk selama-lamanya kasih setia-Nya.

Gratitude is an attitude that has a lot of positive benefits. In fact, studies show that grateful people are happier, healthier, and sleep better! So the question is then, are you reaping the benefits?

Well, I guess that depends on just how grateful you are for your lot in life. To be sure, sometimes we go through patches where it feels as though we don’t have a lot to be grateful for. And for some, those “patches” seem to go on forever.

Some seem to have won life’s lottery, living what appears to be a prosperous, healthy and happy life. Others live in war zones, or amidst abject poverty, oppression, abuse, sickness, disease. Part of that is the selfish political and economic systems under which we live. Sure, but not always. Sometimes it just appears to be the “luck of the draw”.

But whoever you are, whatever your lot in life, there tend to be some good things to celebrate and some struggles that perplex us, am I right? So whatever that mix happens to look like for you, here’s a powerful piece of godly advice:

Psalm 136:1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever. (ESV)

Right through all your ups and downs there’s one constant: the steadfast love of the Lord for you which endures forever. Forever! Through every celebration and every trial. Through every joy and every sorrow. Through every birth and every death.

And it’s for that reason that you and I can live with an attitude of gratitude. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.

Gratitude. Reap the benefits.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
